Today I got 3 tickets for the Menuhin Competion. It’s the first time that this prestegious violin competition is coming to the USA. Luckily, it is going to be held in Austin.
There are 42 participants in the competition. The competition will be going on for 10 days — 2/21/2014 to 3/2/2014. 20 Juniors, 22 Seniors will be competing in the concert. For the seniors, the first prize will be worth $10,000 and an antique Italian Violin that they will get to keep for a whole year. For the juniors, the first prize will be worth $7,000 and again, an antique Italian Violin that they will keep for a whole year. For the rest of the special prizes go to this link.
If I could, I would want to try out for this competition. Sadly, I’m just a mediocre player and I probably have no chance to win. This event is probably somewhere on the news, but I think I’ll watch the Olympics instead.
I’m excited and looking forward to see the fine young violinist playing on Saturday. Thanks for getting the tickets, Matthew !!
