I’ve been reading this great book called the “Great Lateral Thinking Puzzles”. It’s a riddle book that has 4 sections: Tempting Puzzles, Intriguing Puzzles, Grisly Puzzles, and Diabolical Puzzles. Each section has about 20-24 questions. There are also two WALLY tests in the book. The WALLY tests use word-play and facts along with similes to make questions that have really simple and obvious answers.
For Example: What are three things that you can eat but you can never have for breakfast? Answer: Lunch, dinner, and supper.
See? That was one of the really easy ones.
Here are some real riddles.
Two naturalists were walking in the country. They were both keen to protect the environment and to conserve nature and wildlife. One said to the other, ” I was impressed by the way that you hit that bird.” The second replied, ” Yes, it was good, but not as good as that eagle that you hit earlier.” What were they talking about? Answer: They were two golfers. In golf parlance, one had hit a “birdie” (one under par) and the other an “eagle” (two under par).
I got the golf answer, but the not the easier answer about the three things for breakfast :- )
